Tristan masterfully internalized the narrative, tone, and ethics of our film in the sound editing and design. Our film is a cinema verite film profiling a family navigating their trauma and divergent views around an extremely sensitive issue. Our storytelling approach was to follow the protagonists as authentically as possible embracing their multiple perspects, leaning into the complexity and grey areas and allowing audiences the space to experience the film with openness and posing more questions than answers. This narrative approach required delicate sound editing and design that could ensure that the natural dialogue, human and environmental soundscape came through with clarity and depth, but without cinematic embellishment or emotional manipulation. The Gigantic team remained deeply committed to the real-life sounds to enhance the rawness of every moment experienced by the protagonists, and avoided all tendencies to stray from enhancing what was present in the scene itself. Every moment was handled with extraordinary precision and care - from a subtle rustle of clothing during a father-daughter embrace to the sound of planes flying over a Kibbutz to the hollow footsteps walking the halls of power in Washington, D.C.
